Starting with 12 years of training in Atlanta, GA, Chris Coates went on to perform on 2 cruise ships for Royal Caribbean before moving to New York City, where he currently lives. He has toured Europe and the US with Jeff Amdsen's "A Few Good Men Dancing...", danced for many Broadway Dance Center teachers including Tracie Stanfield and Geoffrey Doig Marx and has worked with Joe Lanteri, NYCDA, and ONSTAGE NY for the past 5 years. He has performed in many industrials and commercials including ones for Wal-Mart, the E.L.C.A, and New York Sports Club. He has danced for recording artist and Academy Award Winner Jennifer Hudson as well as performed with many modern companies around the country, including Project 7 and Sideways Contemporary Dance Company in Atlanta and four companies in New York City. Chris has guest taught at Peridance and The Joffrey Ballet School in NYC as well as taught and choreographed for the Joffrey Summer Jazz and Contemporary Intensive for the past five years. He continues to teach and choreograph for many dance studios and schools around the country as well as continuing his dance education in New York City. He is so excited to be part of this wonderful company and is enjoying every second of it!
Born in Framingham, MA, raised in Camp Hill, PA, Evan Copeland grew up dancing at the Wevodau Dance Center and loved the oldies! He continued his training at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts where he received his BFA in Dance and briefly studied abroad at the Salzburg Experimental Acadamy of Dance (SEAD). Evan went on to work with Sean Curran Company (2006-2009), and has worked with Kyle Abraham /Abraham.In.Motion, Wendy Blum, Stephen Koplowitz, Brook Notary, Elke Rindfleisch and various other NYC based choreographers. Evan has been dancing with Shen Wei Dance Arts since 2008, and is thrilled to be joining STEELEDANCE in their NYC season! Be easy!
Carolyn Cryer graduated with a B.A. in Dance from Wesleyan University, and has danced with Steeledance since 2005. Ms. Cryer is Rehearsal Director and performer for Doug Elkins' "Fraulein Maria", and has performed with Miriam Hess, The FeleciaMaria Project, Silver-Brown Dance, the Hudson Vagabond Puppets, Loco 7, Earl Mosley, and MayDance. Carolyn served as Education Programs Manager/International Student Advisor at Dance New Amsterdam from 2003-2010, and is a Licensed Massage Therapist. She is also proud mom of 24-month-old Miles.
Meredith Fages has performed with Alexandra Beller/Dances, Armitage Gone! Dance, Monica Bill Barnes/Waterwell, Wally Cardona, Deborah Hay, Mana Kawamura, Heidi Latsky Dance, Motley Dance, XYZeta Projects/Jimena Paz, Laura Peterson Choreography, Becky Radway Dance Projects, Sarah Skaggs, Steeledance, Palissimo/Pavel Zustiak, Mitzi Adams, Eidolon Ballet, Helen Heineman, Todd Rosenlieb Dance, and Virginia Ballet Theatre. She has been featured in the ballets of Sir Frederick Ashton, George Balanchine, Lew Christensen, and Antony Tudor. She has served as rehearsal assistant for Heidi Latsky, Laura Peterson, Oliver Steele, and Ginger Thatcher, and she was a member of the ballet faculty for the 2009 Peridance Summer Teen Intensive. On film she has collaborated with directors Bat-Sheva Guez, Deborah Lohse, Donnell Oakley, and Mark O'Maley, and will be appearing in a documentary by Richard Move on Heidi Latsky Dance. She has summited Kilimanjaro, appeared in the New York Times Sunday Styles spread, and bakes the occasional wedding cake. She was born in Charleston, SC and graduated from Columbia University with a Pre-Medical Concentration in English.
Donnell Oakley grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina, graduating from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography in 2001. She attended the American Dance Festival in the summers of 1999 and 2001. After moving to New York in 2002, Donnell co-founded everything smaller, a Brooklyn-based company driven by collaboration. In 2008, Donnell finished 6 extraordinary years making dances with the inimitable David Schmidt and Jessica Jolly. She has continued making dances, mostly solos and duets, and has had her work produced through Movement Research, the 92nd Street Y, The West End Theatre, The Flea Theater, Triskelion Arts, Joyce SoHo, Dance New Amsterdam, and Dixon Place. Donnell also teaches regularly as part of the modern guest artist program at Dance New Amsterdam and has been invited to teach at Arizona State University, Middlebury College, Prescott University, The University of Michigan, and West Chester University. In addition to her own work, Donnell currently loves collaborating and dancing with Doug Elkins, Chavasse Dance & Performance, Alex|Xan: The Median Movement, and the fabulous STEELEDANCE.
Jordan Risdon, born in Toronto, Canada received her early training at the National Ballet School of Canada, the Quinte Ballet School and the Virginia School of the Arts. She received a BFA in Dance from the University of Michigan and in 2008 moved to NYC. Jordan has had the pleasure of performing with Jessica Gaynor Dance. alex|xan: the Median Movement, Laura Peterson Choreography, Dance Elixir and Sarah Konner/Austin Selden Dance Collaboration, among others. Jordan is thrilled to be working with STEELEDANCE.

Brandon Whited, born in Poughkeepsie, NY, Brandon began dancing at the age of ten after his family moved to North Carolina. He received both his HS diploma and BFA from the North Carolina School of the Arts under a brilliant and inspiring faculty. Since returning to his roots in New York, Brandon has danced professionally with Randy James Dance Works, Daniel Gwirtzman Dance Company, danscores by Ofelia Loret de Mola, and joined Shen Wei Dance Arts in 2008. In addition to his work in contemporary dance, Brandon is pursuing a career in musical theatre choreography. He has choreographed numerous theatrical productions in North Carolina for the Cape Fear Regional Theater, and in NYC for the budding Purple Repertory Theatre Company. Brandon is delighted to be working again with Teri and Oliver Steele. He would like to thank them and this stellar group of dancers for an incredible experience and a source of continual inspiration!
Leslie Ziff received a BFA in Dance from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle WA. Following graduation she spent a year in Seattle performing with The 3 Yells before migrating to New York City. Leslie was a member of KDNY Dance Company for seven seasons. She is thrilled to be dancing with STEELEDANCE in her first season with the company. Leslie is also a current company member of Trainor Dance and the proud mama of Lillian, to whom every dance performance of hers is dedicated to along with the original LM.
